The Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) (732-389-2958) is a nonprofit organization. It has made its primary goal the agenda of doing whatever it can to provide housing assistance programs, develop affordable housing, and offer services such as foreclosure counseling, a first-time home buyer assistance program, rental and energy bill assistance, eviction prevention and more for residents of Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties.

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton is an organization that has as its mission the goal of improving the quality of life of families and individuals, especially the low income, poor and venerable. They can offer rental assistance, utility and heating bill help, clothing assistance, food pantry and more. Monmouth County Department of Human Services runs several social services and government assistance programs. Among them include SNAP food stamps and the New Jersey SHARES utility program. The H2O Help to Others Program can assist with water bills. The poor can also explore resources such as Medicaid or welfare/TANF. Social workers can help direct clients to the appropriate resources. Applications for utility and heating assistance, including New Jersey SHARES, are processed by the locations below. The churches and charities may also be able to direct Monmouth County low income families to other resources, including food pantries, shelters, or regional clothing closets. Many local churches are always a great place to go to for help when facing a crisis.

Project Paul (732) 787 - 4887) is a non-profit agency that runs numerous programs. They provide food, assists with rent and utilities to qualified families, run a thrift shop, provide clothing, and more.
Salvation Army offers short-term, non-permanent emergency financial assistance, including free food, and utility and rental assistance, first months rent to families, individuals, and groups unable to provide such services for themselves. The Salvation Army also is a participant in NJ Shares energy bill assistance program. The non-profit can also provide help to seniors in Monmouth County as well as a wide variety of free food and holiday assistance programs. They have locations in Asbury Park as well as other towns. Family Promise is a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, counseling and comprehensive services and assistance to homeless families in Monmouth County and Middletown, while advocating innovative solutions to chronic homelessness and trying prevention. 732-495-1050.
The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) is dedicated to increasing the availability of and accessibility to safe, decent and affordable housing to families in New Jersey. In some cases this may mean working with traditional affordable housing developments, serving New Jersey's most needy families. In other instances it is working with First-Time Homebuyers, senior citizens, and/or the disabled in our special needs communities.
